our story
Shepherd began with a simple frustration; finding wholesome food in a modern world.
Like many Australians, we wanted products made with ingredients we recognised, without unnecessary additives, shortcuts or compromises.
Health was our main driver, but we also felt strongly about the environment, animal welfare and overall well-being.
The past decade has been a whirlwind! We took a 9 year journey into veganism, started food manufacturing 5 years ago and relocated interstate.
Now, we're back in Sydney. We've rediscovered wholesome food in a completely different way, and we're here to offer you the products we have been searching for this whole time!
Our new philosophy... eat what your grandparent's, grandparents would have eaten.
Natural, thoughtfully made and simple enough to become part of the everyday routine in your kitchen.

To us, the name reflects our role in helping everyday people make better choices for themselves and their families.

We would rather do a few things exceptionally well than chase trends.
Less is more.
No longer vegan
Veganism was us taking a stand against the atrocious treatment of conventional farmed animals, the impact to the environment and how meat and dairy laced with added hormones, antibiotics, synthetic chemicals and additives can impact your health.
It took us some time in the manufacturing industry and many a farm visit later to realise, it wasn't the meat and dairy at all... it was the way it was farmed and produced.
Most conventional manufacturers, farmers and producers are in it for one thing - money.
The more they can produce in the quickest time, and the longer they can keep it from spoiling to be able to ship it around and keep it on a shelf, means more profit for them. This goes for the vegan industry also.
organic was there the whole time
Having met generational farmers, we understand that there are people out there growing and producing our food, that actually care.
They don't do anything to 'be organic'. They just do what nature planned for it to do. They facilitate God's miraculous process and they love it!
They live in isolation, they have dirt under their nails, they are the friendliest, most positive people, and they wouldn't have it any other way.
These are the people we support. These are the people we want to be producing our food.
